Every table has someone who says “I’m getting chicken.” The question is not whether to order it, but which one. At La Vicenta Tezontle there are two paths, and each one has its fans.
Chicken Milanesa: the classic with a twist
The milanesa you grew up with, crispy, but topped with green salsa and gratinéed cheese. The best of a milanesa and a plate of enchiladas, together.
Pollo Norteño: grill flavor all the way
Chicken breast marinated in garlic and beer, with red northern-style adobo. No breading: here the adobo and the grill marks do the talking.
Which one should you order?
- Go for the Milanesa if you love crispy, cheesy and a touch of green salsa.
- Go for the Pollo Norteño if you want grill flavor and an adobo with character.
- Can’t decide? Keep reading: the answer is in the tip.
Which sides?
Both come with 2 sides of your choice. A few combinations that work:
- Milanesa with Mexican rice and charro pinto beans, for a homestyle plate.
- Pollo Norteño with grilled vegetables and Iceberg Caesar salad, for something fresher.
- Baked potato with either one; you can add melted cheese and bacon.
What to drink?
A Mojito or a Margarita pairs well with both. If you don’t drink alcohol, the Green Demon, with green tea, cucumber, lime and cilantro, refreshes without stealing the spotlight.
What kind of plan are they for?
A family meal where not everyone wants steak, the friend who doesn’t eat beef, and those days when you want something good without overthinking it.
House tip
Order one of each and split them down the middle. The debate settles itself and nobody leaves craving the other one.
