The first drinks arrived\u2014doubles, as they always do here\u2014and with them, the kind of conversation that starts lighthearted and ends in laughter that can be heard two tables away. Someone ordered a cut of meat to share “just to try,” and it ended up being the order everyone wanted seconds of. Another insisted they order something spicy, and the whole table ended up defending or attacking that decision with a passion that had nothing to do with the food.<\/p>\n
Midnight, the live music changed the pace of the conversation without anyone asking for it. The talks became slower, more honest. That kind of honesty that only comes out when you’ve been comfortable for a while, without rushing, without a clock.<\/p>\n
